Mendez finds the original, unedited footage of the Bakersfield massacre. They are first attacked by the stalker Subzero, but Richards garrotes him with a section of razor-wire fencing, the first time a stalker has ever died on the show. As the game begins, Killian sends Weiss and Laughlin into the game-show arena with Richards, in an abandoned part of Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Amber sees a news report stating that Richards shot people at the airport, which she knows is untrue. ![]() Killian coerces Richards to participate in the show, in exchange for Weiss and Laughlin's freedom. With Mendez's security travel pass, Richards takes Mendez hostage to flee to Hawaii but is arrested at the airport when Mendez alerts security. Richards declines to help, and then heads to his brother's apartment, only to find it is now occupied by Amber Mendez, a composer, and that his brother has been sent to a "re-education" camp. It has shown substantial improvement in a variety of areas I wanted: Combat is no longer tab-target and is instead much faster action oriented. We’ll still have plenty of opportunities to engage players in PvP in the sky, and there’ll be plenty of PvE content that takes us into the air as well, but it will no longer be the main focus of the game. They stated the reason behind this: “in order for users to collide naturally, the degree of freedom in the sky must be reduced.” You’d move around from floating island to floating island, exploring an enormous open world mostly atop your flying mount of choice, with the land housing content, but the focus being in the skies.Įlyon will take place down to the ground, with little content being available in the air. I’ve never been a fan so I won’t be participating, but the open-world PvP, while I know some of you will be instantly turned off at the mere mention of forced PvP, is something I look forward to engaging in!Īs for the type of content, initially, A:IR was going to be an MMORPG that took place predominantly within the sky. ’cause everyone wants to get in on that right now due to how popular BRs are. Additionally, they’ll have 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 Arenas for players to group up in, Realm vs Realm encounters, and a Free for All Battlefield, that will function as a Battle Royale. PvP is not optional in these zones as far as I’m aware, as you’ll be forced into combat with other players while in areas marked as PvP zones. With regards to PvP, the game will have unique PvP zones that allow players to tackle PvPvE content, having players fight one another, along with monsters to complete their quests. Other than that, the only major change to the game is the PvP and the focus on the type of content we’ll have access to. This is not the direction I wanted Elyon to go but it might not be that big of an issue for some people. You’d see hundreds of players all autopathing to a quest NPC and then standing there like zombies. Otherwise we have what happened in Revelation Online: Hundreds of players all AFK following the exact same route. I’m aware this is present in BDO as well, but I feel like engaging with other players in the world is part of what makes an MMO. I really disliked this about A:IR and was hoping it didn’t make it into the end version of the MMO but unfortunately, here it is. You can autopath to your quest objective, meaning that it’s definitely plausible that half the people you see out in the large, open world will be AFK. One thing I did notice though while players were out in the world, was that the game utilizes a form of autopathing. ![]() There are also functional dungeons and raids, but I never saw anyone participate in either, unfortunately. You have region quests specific to the region you’re in, with quests actually going as far as opening up entirely new regions all together, and world quests that function kind of like FATEs in Final Fantasy XIV. Everywhere you went, everything you did was due to the main story, and MMOs that have a strong narrative end up doing better than those that don’t.Įlyon, from what I can tell, still has a focus on the main story, but it also provides various other types of content to engage in while progressing. While combat is important, one thing I recall in A:IR was that it had a strong focus on story-telling. There are a variety of different classes, each with their own unique abilities and combat styles, but after seeing how different the Mage plays compared to when I played Mage back in A:IR, I’m kind of impressed. From what I’ve seen from various streams, combat seems completely action-based now, much closer to Black Desert but still not as fast. The goal with Elyon was to take the combat, and completely overhaul it, moving away from tab-target and towards a full action-combat system. First, let’s talk about the combat, since I know that’s something you’re all concerned with.Īscent: Infinite Realm was a tab-target MMO – which is a weird direction to take the game, especially since it’s developed from the team behind TERA, one of the better action MMOs out there right now. ![]() Arnold, was given the term “UFO” or “unidentified flying object.” UFO was used to describe any aerial object that was seen but not identified.ģ. Even if it's not an exact replica, everyone accepts it that way. It's one of the most stylish safari hats you're going to find. This hat is quite crushable and can fold up neatly in your suitcase, even with the thin leather band. It holds up pretty well in the rain, though that does seem to be a weakness of most crushable felt hats, losing some of their form in the rain. If you're not worried about rain on your safari, then it's not much of an issue. Tim used to wear this hat all the time, before we left for our world tour. The one thing that kept him from choosing it for our travels is that color, Dark Olive. However, after it's had a lot of time in the sun (2-3 years of continuous use), it fades into a greenish color. Knowing this, it wasn't the right choice since we are on a continuous travel journey and can't replace it easily when this happens.ĭespite the eventual fade, it's a good-looking, high-performing crushable safari hat that we can recommend. ![]() Hidden in the crown of this hat is a little cape – seriously – to cover the back of your neck to protect it from sunburn, blowing sand and excessive heat. It's an excellent feature for a safari hat that not only provides an extra layer of shade, but more protection from bugs as well. That bug protection? I was once walking down the street in a village in Eritrea. Out of nowhere, an inch-long bitey, stingy bug flew in, bit me in the neck and flew off. A nasty bug like that wouldn't have been able to get to me if I'd had a hat with a cape, like this one. This safari hat with neck flap has all of the other practical features you'd expect in an REI hat: very packable, mesh ventilation panels, chin strap, wicking headband and…drumroll please…it floats! Note: You can also spray the cape with natural insect repellent for maximum bug-repelling effectiveness. One thing we like about REI is that you can count on them to both create and sell good products. You'd think that wider is automatically better for sun protection, but that's not always the case. If the brim gets in the way, or makes you uncomfortable, and you choose not to wear the hat because of it, then it's not doing its job. Too Wide – a brim that's extra wide, without sufficient support, will be floppy and for some people, irritating. While a large floppy brim has advantages like added shade and repelling bugs, it doesn't work for everyone. Too Narrow – If the brim is too narrow, the hat won't do its job of protecting you from the sun. It also may not be good for cutting down glare or shielding your eyes when the sun is at just the wrong level for where you're looking. ![]() ![]() I don't think any of the hats on this list risk too narrow of a brim. Additional features include an adjustable palm-rest feature, a drawing mode, and you can insert media such as math equations, images, sound or PDF files from various cloud storage services including Dropbox and Evernote. MyScript Smart Note is the only note-taking application that turns handwritten words and math formulas into interactive text, making it easy to edit, search, and take action on your notes. I know I’ve had problems with editing one letter when it’s in the middle of a word because selecting it is rather difficult. You can even use #hashtag and anywhere in your notes and it’ll automatically index and group them together. Letterspace provides a swipe bar that allows you to easily go between letters for editing. It saves versions of each document every time it syncs as well, so you can go back and see what you’ve done. Don’t be fooled by their simple design – you still have a good amount of features such as being able to search through your notes, pin notes to the top of your list, create drafts, add tags, and even publish your note to the web using a public URL. When you start a level, you’ll feast on stationary organisms, which are usually found in large groups. The more annoying problem comes from control. Quite often, I found myself one organism away from finishing the level, and I was unable to find it, because it was shrouded in a sea of color. Because there’s so much going on, it can be easy to miss key gameplay elements. Unfortunately, this leads to issues during gameplay. On one hand, the visuals are well-polished, pleasing to the eye, and very colorful. The most glaring issue is the double-edged sword known as the visuals. The Sparkle 2: Evo is one of those games where there’s no wrong way to play. On paper, the experience hardly sounds thrilling, but there’s a lot of charm that comes with its simplicity. That’s pretty much what the game has to offer. Once you eat enough organisms of one color, you move on to the next stage. Depending on the type and number of things you eat, you’ll grow and evolve and move on to eating larger creatures. Using the mouse, you swim around eating smaller organisms. If you haven’t, the gameplay is simple enough to grasp after just a couple minutes. If you’ve played Flow, you’ll know exactly what to expect from The Sparkle 2: Evo. Even if that’s not your ideal way to spend a Friday night, there’s certainly a bit of magic to it.Ī lot of people will immediately notice some major similarities to 2007’s Flow. The main focus of The Sparkle 2: Evo is swimming around, eating colorful shapes, and occasionally chasing your tail. Nor is it based on deep, challenging gameplay. Luckily, The Sparkle 2: Evo isn’t based on action. Swimming around, eating colorful shapes, and chasing your own tail doesn’t sound like an action-packed experience. The sea is a peaceful place with plenty of color and imprecise controls. |
